On the main drag of Christiania’s ‘pusher street’ is the aptly named food trailer Sunshine Bakery. It’s been around since the 70s and sells locally baked super affordable cakes, like my all-time favourite deliciously Danish drømmekage (dream cake) and traditionally made amazingly delicious freshly brewed chai tea. Bring your reusable mug to enjoy their creations with zero impact on the planet.

One of the city’s oldest shops, opened back in 1835, happens to also be a tea shop. One which offers a sophisticated selection of teas from all over the world. The interior has remained pretty much untouched, allowing you to step back in time with tea in mind.

If you’re looking to add a little art piece to your tea tasting paraphernalia, get yourself a truly locally made souvenir by Danish ceramists, father and son team, Aage and Kasper Würtz. You can find their ceramics in Copenhagen at this lovely little shop called H. Skjalmp which is filled to the brim with locally handcrafted Danish creations.
