Total Cost: $1.55 per bath bomb (a full batch makes 3 to 4 bath bombs)
Other Supplies Needed:
- Bath Bomb Molds
- Stand or hand mixer
- Mixing Bowl
- Whisk
- See Through Liquid Pour Measure
Green Tea Bath Bomb Directions:
- Place baking soda, Epsom salts, matcha powder, and citric acid in mixing bowl. Cut green tea bags open and add leaves to dry mixture. Mix with hand whisk until fully blended.
- In liquid measure, add water, essential oil, olive oil and combine.
- You can mix by hand but I often double the batch so I use my stand mixer to speed things up. Place dry mix in stand mixing bowl on mixer and lock in place.
- Turn mixer on the lowest speed and very slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry (one teaspoon at a time). It may seem too dry but remember it’s better to error on the dry side so the bath bombs pack hard without expanding when they’re left to dry out.
- Pull mixing bowl off the mixture once fully combined.
- Using both hands and one side of the spherical mold in each hand, scoop mixture into molds, filling both sides and pressing out mixture to meeting hands /molds in the middle of the bowl. Push inwardly and twist each side of the mold until extra mix falls into the bowl and both sides are together with tightly packed bath bomb in the middle. You’ll want to move fast so the mixture doesn’t dry out.
- Pull mold off of each side and smooth any creases with your hand. Place to dry on bubble wrap.
- Using the same mold, repeat until mixture is gone.
Tips:
- You can forego molds all together if you’re not fussy about having perfect spheres. Simply use your hands and pack like snowballs.
- Its also fun to make different bath bomb shapes by using silicone cup cake molds.
- I set my bath bombs on big bubble wrap to help them keep their shape while they dry.
- Two bath bombs fit perfectly into the Stasher storage bags. Although a bit more expensive, this presentation is always a big hit because the packaging serves as a reusable, plastic free gift.
